Dating back to 1846 when Sag Harbor was a whaling town, The American Hotel
still has the charm reminiscent of those days thanks to owner Ted Conklin.
The hotel, with eight guest rooms is formal, decorated with
antiques, and transforms you to a bygone era. To the rear of the lobby you are
greeted by a beautiful wood bar and handsome dinner room, where its OK to smoke
a cigar and a great place for guests to relax, have a drink and enjoy a superb meal.
The restaurants' menu, which changes along with the seasons, is
inventive "New French" cuisine.
Zagat gave the restaurant top ratings and it has
also been recognized by many food critics as one of the finest on Long Island.
